The 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup continued on Sunday with a pair of games at the spanking new Ynares Center – Montalban. Here’s a recap of what happened:
San Miguel Dominates Terrafirma as Lesser Lights Dominate
Up against the seemingly hapless and hopeless Terrafirma Dyip, the San Miguel Beermen this time turned to their shock troopers, who delivered superb performances in leading the many-time champs to a 128-89 stomping of their lowly adversaries.
Rodney Brondial and Mo Tautaa typified this dynamic, with the former firing 17 points on a perfect 7-for-7 clip and the latter scattering 16 markers on top of a new career-high 22 boards. Jericho Cruz added 11, while Jeron Teng and JM Calma chipped in 8 apiece to power San Miguel’s wire-to-wire domination. Old-reliables CJay Perez and June Mar Fajardo finished with 17 and 12, respectively.
Mark Nonoy’s 24 points led Terrafirma, with Stanley Pringle adding 17. Louie Sangalang put up 10 as he continued his fine play in this 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup. Their efforts, however, could not keep the Dyip from skidding to their seventh straight loss after their opening-day win.
San Miguel, meanwhile, climbed to 5-2, a game ahead of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and within striking distance of early leaders NLEX Road Warriors and Magnolia Hotshots. The top four teams after the eliminations in the 2024–25 PBA Philippine Cup will get a twice-to-beat incentive in the playoffs,
