The 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference continued on Saruday with a double-header at PhilSports Arena. Here’s a recap of the action:

Akari Frustrates Capital1, Stays Within Top Six

The Akari Chargers showed they could be dominant when they play true to form, ripping the Capital1 Solar Spikers 25-9, 25-17, 26-24 to stay within the top six teams in the standings.

While dominant most of the way, the Chargers nonetheless had to work for the finish, rallying from two set points down in the third set. A kill block from Fifi Sharma got Akari on the hill, and Faith Nisperos finished things off with a kill.

Sharma and Nisperos finished with 6 and 8 points, respectively. Ivy Lacsina paced the Chargers with 15 points, followed by Eli Soyud’s 12. Trisha Genesis led Capital1 with 14 markers.

With the win, Akari moved to 5-4 to tie the idle Chery Tiggo Crossovers at fifth place. Capital1 dropped to 11th at 1-7.

Creamline Edges Cignal in Dramatic Five-Setter

The Creamline Cool Smashers edged out the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 15-9, to remain unbeaten in the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Creamline won the first two sets but needed every one of Bernadeth Pons’s game-high 27 points as Cignal launched a mighty comeback to extend the match to a decider. Pons also added 14 excellent digs to show her two-way versatility for the Cool Smashers, who once again got contributions from all around. Tots Carlos fired 15, Bea de Leon scored 12, and Jema Galanza added 9.

Vandie Gandler and rookie Ishie Lalongisip provided the firepower for Cignal, firing 21 and 19, respectively, to show their superstar potential. Rose Doria-Aquino chipped in 11 for the HD Spikers, who couldn’t carry the momentum of winning sets 3 and 4 to the deciding fifth set.

With the win, Creamline cemented its place at the top of the standings with a 7-0 record. Cignal fell to 5-2 but remained at third.
