The Play-ins of the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference concluded with final double-header at the PhilSports Arena. Here’s a recap of what happened:
Nxled Sweeps Farm Fresh, Ends Campaign on a Winning Note
The Nxled Chameleons swept the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18, in a command performance to end their 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign on a high note.
Nxled drew good games from Chiara Permentilla, Krich Macaslang, Lycha Ebon, Lucille Almonte, and EJ Laure, among others, as it used a balanced attack to overpower Farm Fresh. Fermentilla and Macaslang led the way for the Chameleons with 9 points each, with Laure and Almonte chipping in 8 apiece. Rachel Jorvina, meanwhile, anchored the defense with 20 excellent digs and was named Player of the Game.
Pierre Abellana, who played only to sets, was the only double-digit scorer in the match with 10. Rachel Anne Daquis added 9 markers for the Foxies, who were without leading scorer Trisha Tubu.
Zus Coffee Thwarts Capital1, Earns Historic Quarters Berth
The Zus Coffee Thunderbelles powered past the Capital1 Solar Spikers, 25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 25-17, to clinch the franchise’s first-ever Quarterfinals appearance in the PVL—and, in the process, deny the Cignal HD Spikers a chance to advance even after getting the third seed in the preliminaries.
Chai Troncoso, who led Zus Coffee to a victory over Cignal previously, spearheaded the Thunderbelles’ attack once more with her 15 markers, while rookie Thea Gagate proved her mettle yet again with 13 points anchored on 4 kill blocks. Chinnie Arroyo added 9, with Jovelyn Gonzaga and Kate Santiago each chipping 8.
Norielle Ipac turned in her best performance yet for Capital1 with a conference-high 17 points. Rookie Leila Cruz ended her first conference with 13 markers, while Shola Alvarez and Patty Orendain fired 10 points apiece.
