The preliminary round of the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference concluded on Saturday with a double-header at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo. Here’s a recap of the action:
PLDT Sweeps Zus Coffee, Earns Fourth Seed
The PLDT High Speed Hitters dominated the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles en route to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-15 sweep in the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Savi Davison again led the way, firing 17 points for the High Speed Hitters, who also got 10 points from Majoy Baron, 8 from Erika Santos, and 7 from Mika Reyes. Chai Troncoso paced ZUS Coffee with 9 markers, while Michelle Gamit and Thea Gagate added 8 and 6, respectively.
PLDT was in complete control of the match, outgunning the young Thunderbelles, 43-30, and also outblocking them, 7-3. The High Speed Hitters also committed just 14 errors compared to Zus Coffee’s 20.
With the win, PLDT finished with an 8-3 record to close out the preliminaries—the same as the Cignal HD Spikers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans. But the High Speed Hitters wound up as the fourth seed as they finished with 23 total points as compared to Cignal’s 25. They will face off again with Zus Coffee in the Qualifying Round as the latter finished as the ninth seed with their 4-7 record.

Choco Mucho Tops Chery Tiggo, Finishes Fifth in Preliminaries
Sisi Rondina and Isa Molde combined for 35 points to lead the Choco Mucho Flying Titans to a 25-18, 25-23, 26-24 sweep of the Chery Tiggo Crossovers to conclude their preliminary round campaigns in the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Rondina finished with 20 points, while Molde added 15 for the Flying Titans, who endured some tense moments in the second and third sets before pulling through. Dindin Manabat, Mars Alba, Cherry Nunag, and Royse Tubino combined for 18 to help Choco Mucho’s cause.
Ara Galang, Cess Robles, and Pauline Gaston carried the fight for Chery Tiggo with 9, 8, and 7 points, respectively. The three also put the Crossovers on the verge of winning the second set with a 22-19 advantage. But the Flying Titans rallied with a 6-1 windup to build a 2-0 advantage.
The two teams are set for a rematch in the Qualifying Round as the as the fifth and eighth seeds. Choco Mucho finished the Preliminaries with the same 8-3 record as Cignal and PLDT but ended up at fifth because of an inferior point total. The Crossovers finished with 5-6—the same record of the Akari Chargers and Farm Fresh Foxies—but wound up at eighth because of an inferior point total.
