
Alas Pilipinas failed to replicate their win against Thailand as they suffered their third-straight defeat in the 2025 AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18, on June 21 (PH Time), for the 9th to 11th classification.
Buds Buddin was the highest scorer for Alas Pilipinas with eight points in seven attacks and one block. Louie Ramirez and Peng Taguibolos scored six points apiece, while Leo Ordiales and Steve Rotter contributed five points apiece.
JP Bugaoan added four points, while team captain Marck Espejo scored only one point, as he played only in the first set due to injury.
For Thailand, team captain Amorntep Konhan led the team with 14 points in 12 attacks and two aces. Anurak Phanram and Chaiwat Thungkham added 12 points apiece.
With the loss, the Philippines’ best finish could be in 10th place if the team defeated New Zealand in their game on June 24.
Thailand’s Attack Points
Thailand showed their dominance in the attacking department, tallying 39 points from 81 attempts. Amorntep Konhan, Anurak Phanram, and Chaiwat Thungkham were the best three spikers of the team in this match, totaling 34 points in 67 attempts.
Alas Pilipinas scored 27 attack points in 84 attempts, led by Buds Buddin’s seven points, Louie Ramirez’s six points, and Steve Rotter’s five points.
In the blocking department, Thailand had one more with eight blocks. Kissada Nilsawai recorded three blocks, and Kiadtiphum Ramsin with two.
For the Philippines, Peng Taguibolos had four blocks, while JP Bugaoan contributed two blocks.
In service aces, Amorntep Konhan had two aces while Peng Taguibolos had one, the only ace for Alas Pilipinas.
Lastly, Alas Pilipinas threw away 26 points through their errors, while Thailand had 24 errors.
