After a long, gruelling and challenging tournament, Brazil gets to lift the trophy after beating Portugal in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup on the evening of December 7 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Electric Atmosphere as the Final Kicks Off

The inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup title match unfolded before a packed crowd of 5,087 at the Philsports Arena.

Entering the competition as the world’s No. 1, Brazil set out to prove its dominance from the opening whistle, while Portugal sought a long-awaited breakthrough on the global stage.

The early moments saw both sides exchanging pressure, but Brazil quickly settled into its rhythm, dictating the pace and asserting the form that had carried the team unbeaten into the final.

Emilly Micaela Marcondes Opens the Scoring

Brazil eventually broke through when Emilly Micaela Marcondes struck the opener around the 9th to 10th minute mark.

Receiving a setup from Ana Luiza near the top corner of the area, she sent a composed left-footed finish into goal which was an early blow that energized the Brazilian bench and crowd.

The goal added to her growing tally in the tournament, eventually helping her secure both the Golden Shoe and Golden Ball after finishing with seven goals and two assists, cementing her status as one of the competition’s standout performers.

Amandinha Doubles the Lead After Halftime

As Portugal worked to rebuild momentum entering the second half, Brazil again found a moment of quality.

Around the 22nd to 23rd minute, Amanda Lyssa de Oliveira Crisóstomo, aka “Amandinha,” connected on a well-coordinated sequence from the right flank, picking out Simone to complete a swift attacking move that doubled Brazil’s advantage.

That second goal shifted full control to the South Americans, whose defensive shape and aggressive pressing limited Portugal to speculative looks despite the Europeans’ strong tournament form.

Portugal, undefeated before the final, struggled to create meaningful chances against a Brazilian unit that conceded only four goals all competition.

Debora Vanin Puts the Match Beyond Reach

With just over two minutes remaining and facing a 2-0 deficit, Portugal rolled out a power play in a last-ditch attempt to mount a comeback. The gamble proved costly.

Debora Vanin seized on a transition opportunity near the 37th to 38th minute, meeting a cross from Camila and striking into an open net vacated by Portugal’s advanced goalkeeper.

Her finish finalised the scoreline and confirmed Brazil’s flawless march to the summit of the first-ever FIFA-organised women’s futsal world championship.

FINAL SCORE: BRAZIL 3 – 0 PORTUGAL

Portugal’s Strong Run Ends in Silver

Despite arriving in Manila with an impressive résumé, the consistent podium finishes in the UEFA Women’s Futsal Championship and several World Tournament appearances as Portugal once again fell just short of capturing its first major international title.

The team closed the competition with a 5 wins and 1 loss record, its only defeat coming in the finale against a dominant Brazilian side.

Spain Crushes Argentina for Bronze

Earlier in the day, Spain secured third place with a dramatic scoring burst to defeat Argentina, 5-1.

Holding a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime, Spain saw Argentina equalise through Mailen Romero at the 33rd minute. The response was immediate and overwhelming.

Laura Cordoba reclaimed the lead for Spain just a minute later, followed by strikes from Antia Perez (36’) and Irene Cordoba (37’). Laura added her second goal at the 39th minute to seal the victory and complete a four-goal avalanche in the game’s closing stretch.

The bronze medal added another accomplishment to Spain’s growing collection across FIFA futsal competitions.

A New Chapter in Women’s Futsal History and Future of Filipina5

Brazil’s title adds to an already decorated legacy that includes one AMF World Cup, six Women’s Futsal World Tournament triumphs, and eight Copa América Femenina crowns.

More importantly, the victory became a landmark moment for the sport, demonstrating the global reach, rising talent, and competitive depth of women’s futsal.

In the not-so-distant future, countries around the globe would then give further emphasis and importance to the sport of Futsal, most notably the host country of the Philippines.

Despite having the “moral victories” of scoring goals on the world stage, it still cannot change or erase the fact that the Filipina5 went 0 of 3 in the elimination round. A record that is shameful, considering their superiors have done so much behind the scenes to successfully win the bid to host the inaugural tournament.

With the inaugural FIFA edition now complete, Brazil stands as the sport’s first official world champion, as they became undefeated, unchallenged, and firmly atop the futsal world.

But it would certainly be a matter of time until a brand new country takes the top spot in the global tournament.
