There was plenty of Tuesday action at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as the PVL Reinforced Conference continued with a triple-header that saw the Akari Chargers facing off with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles colliding with the Galeries Tower Highrisers, and the Creamline Cool Smashers taking on the Petro Gazz Angels.
Akari Rolls to Win No. 2 with Escape Act vs. Chery Tiggo
Ced Domingo delivered the endgame goods for the Akari Chargers, scoring three straight points in the fifth-set decider to tow her team to a hard-earned 25-11, 22-25, 29-27, 17-25, 15-7 victory over the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Domingo finished with 16 markers on five blocks, while Akari got plenty of splendid performances all around, starting with import Annie Mitchem and Eli Soyud, who scattered 17 each. Fifi Sharma added 10, while Grethcel Soltones contributed eight more, including a couple in that fifth set. Mars Alba and Justine Jazareno excelled as well, with the former netting 21 excellent sets and the latter getting 27 excellent digs—two of which came in the decider.
Cess Robles led Chery Tiggo with a match-high 20 points, followed by 17 from import Yani Batista. Ara Galang and Mylene Paat added nine and eight, respectively. Libero Karen Verdeflor stood out as well, tallying 18 excellent receptions and 17 excellent digs.

Zus Coffee Sweeps Galeries for 2-0 Start
Another match, another Anna DeBeer show-out as she led the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 sweep of the Galeries Tower Highrisers for a 2-0 start to the conference.
DeBeer, coming off a 37-point explosion against Chery Tiggo, dropped 18 on the Highrisers, who offered little resistance to the explosive American. AC Miner added 10 and was, like DeBeer, a beneficiary of Cloanne Mondoñedo’s masterful setting as she finished with 20 excellent sets.
Import Jelena Cvijovic was held to only 11 points, while Jean Asis added nine for the overmatched Highrisers, who committed 21 unforced errors and were outhit, 44-33, in the 77-minute match.

Creamline Outguns Petro Gazz in Battle of Champs
Don’t count out the Creamline Cool Smashers just yet. The many-time champs served notice that they’re still a force to be reckoned with even without a couple of key players as they outgunned fellow champs Petro Gazz Angels, 25-20, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20, in a thrilling nightcap.
Coco Schwan followed up her 26-point debut with 27 huge points against the Angels and got plenty of support from veteran MVPs Tots Carlos and Alyssa Valdez, who had 14 apiece. Valdez, in particular, flashed vintage form, adding 14 digs and 13 receptions in a triple-double performance for Creamline.
Brooke Van Sickle carried the fight for Petro Gazz, delivering 26 monstrous points as Lindsey Vander Weide could muster only 17. No one else scored more than six for the Angels as they struggled to provide firepower for their ace.
