Plenty of action again in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as the league held another triple-header. This time, it featured matches between the Farm Fresh Foxies and Cignal Super Spikers, Capital1 Solar Spikers and Nxled Chameleons, and PLDT High Speed Hitters and Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

Farm Fresh Blanks Cignal for Franchise’s Best Start

Dynamic sophomore Trisha Tubu seized the spotlight on Thursday, putting up 21 big points to help her Farm Fresh Foxies blank the Cignal Super Spikers, 25-19, 25-20, 25-16, for their second straight win to start the conference. It is the franchise’s best start so far in their PVL stint and the first time they’ve started 2-0.

Import Eli Rousseaux, who debuted with a 38-point eruption in the Foxies’ opener, stepped aside for Tubu but still provided a steadying presence with 17 points and 11 excellent digs. Ces Molina, who previously played for Cignal, tormented her former team with 11 markers.

Eva Chantava led Cignal but only had 13 points. She didn’t get enough support either, as no Super Spiker scored more than 6 points. It certainly didn’t help that they missed Vanie Gandler, who was sidelined by an undisclosed minor injury.

Capital1 Downs Nxled Behind Sasha Bytsenko, Bella Belen

Sasha Bytsenko provided plenty of firepower to lead the Capital1 Solar Spikers to a 25-20, 23-25, 27-25, 25-12 victory over the Nxled Chameleons.

Bytsenko finished with 39 big points for Capital1 on top of 17 excellent receptions and lots of timely hits. Her 39 markers reset the record for tournament-best previously set by the Foxies’ Rousseaux, who scored 38 in her debut. Super rookie Bella Belen provided major support to the Ukrainian reinforcement, tallying 15 points and 14 excellent digs.

Paola Martinez and Chia Fermentilla tried to carry the fight for Nxled, with the former scoring a team-high 20 points and the latter putting up 18. But they proved no match against Capital1 and the unstoppable Bytsenko.

PLDT Rolls Past Choco Mucho for 15th Straight W

The PLDT High Speed Hitters just keep on winning. On Thursday, they notched their 15th straight win dating back to the PVL On Tour, this time upending the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, in yet another command performance.

Fil-Am Savi Davison continued to show out for PLDT, finishing with a team-high 19 markers spiked by 7 excellent digs and 9 receptions. Import Anastasiia Bavykina backed Davison with 13 points, while Kim Dy added 9 markers. Middle blockers Majoy Baron and Dell Palomata chipped in 6 and 5 points, respectively, and were a big part of the High Speed Hitters outblocking Choco Mucho, 10-5.

Marlee Smith, who missed Choco Mucho’s tournament debut, came away with a match-high 20 points to lead the Flying Titans, who couldn’t provide the American with solid support. In fact, no other Choco Mucho player scored more than 4 points.
