Alas Pilipinas faltered against undefeated, defending champions Thailand, 16-25, 22-25, 24-26, on the second day of the 2025 SEA Men’s V.League in Candon, Ilocos Norte.
Buds Buddin scored a team-high 11 points in 10 attacks and a block, while Leo Ordiales added 10 points in eight attacks, a block, and an ace. Kennedy Batas and Lloyd Josafat combined for 11 points.
Despite being in the lineup, Alas Pilipinas is still missing the services of starters Owa Retamar and Louie Ramirez.
For Thailand, Amornthep Khonhan erupted for 20 points in 18 attacks, a block, and an ace, while Kissada Nilsawai contributed 14 points in 11 attacks, two blocks, and an ace. Anurak Phanram and Chaiwat Thungkham combined for 16 points.
Thailand has not lost a match in the SEA Men’s V.League since they were defeated by Indonesia, 27-25, 25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 9-15, in the 2023 edition.
Thailand will take on Vietnam on July 11 at 6:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Alas Pilipinas will try to bounce back against Cambodia on July 12 at 6:00 p.m.
Vietnam Tallies First Win Versus Cambodia
After suffering a defeat from the Philippines, Vietnam notched their first victory with a straight-set sweep of the rookie team Cambodia, 25-23, 25-20, 25-21.
Nguyen Ngoc Thuan led Vietnam to victory with 22 points in 19 attacks and three blocks, while Duy Tuyen Tran contributed 11 points in eight attacks and three blocks.
For Cambodia, Mom Kuon led the team in their first game in the SEA Men’s V.League with 16 points in 14 attacks, while team captain Veasna Voeurn added 15 points.
Cambodia will take on Indonesia on July 11 at 3:00 p.m., while Vietnam will face Thailand later that day at 6:00 p.m.
