2025 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup: Alas Pilipinas Defeats Thailand U-21, Faces Korabelka in Semis

Alas Pilipinas defeated the Thailand U-21 national team, playing as Est Cola, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21, in the 2025 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup in Vietnam.

Vanie Gandler led the Philippines with 12 points in 11 attacks while Brooke Van Sickle added 10 points in seven attacks, two blocks, and an ace. Eya Laure and Dell Palomata combined for 17 points, while Leila Cruz contributed seven markers.

For Est Cola, Nannaphat Moonjakham led the team with 14 points in 13 attacks and an ace, while Kwannaphat Nualwan contributed 13 points in 11 attacks, a block, and an ace. Est Cola is missing the services of team captain Kuttika Kaewpin, who was called to the senior team for the Volleyball Nations League.

With the win, Alas Pilipinas went through the semifinals where they will face Korabelka of Russia on July 4, at 6:00 p.m. (Ph time). Meanwhile, Est Cola was relegated to the 5th-8th semifinals.

Korabelka of Russia recorded 43 attack points in their easy 25-16, 25-16, 25-12 victory against Australia. In comparison, Australia only had 18 attack points throughout the match.

Viktoriia Bobrova led the team with 16 points in 14 attacks, a block, and an ace, while Elizaveta Nesterova contributed 12 points in 10 attacks and two aces.

For Australia, Kayla Cantrill led the team with six points while Ruby Vanloo and Chelsea Cocks each scored five points.

Taiwan recorded seven service aces in their 25-16, 25-16, 25-16 victory against Sichuan Wuliangchun of China. In comparison, the Chinese team only had one ace.

Chang Yi-chi led Taiwan with 13 points in 11 attacks, a block, and an ace. Hsu Wan-Yun added 11 points in eight attacks and three blocks, while Tsai Yu-Chun contributed 10 points in seven attacks, two aces, and a block.

For China, Jingjin Yang was the lone bright spot with 10 points in eight attacks and two blocks. Sijia Wang added eight points, while team captain Chen Wang contributed seven.

The Vietnam women’s volleyball team scored 45 points from the attack as they defeated their under-21 team, 25-21, 25-13, 25-9. In comparison, the young Vietnam squad only tallied 24 attack points.

Vi Thị Như Quỳnh led the seniors squad with 14 points on 12 attacks and two aces, while Nguyễn Thị Phương, Nguyễn Thị Trinh, and Nguyễn Thị Bích Tuyền combined for 24 points.

For the younger Vietnam squad, Bùi Thị Ánh Thảo and Đặng Thị Hồng each scored eight points.
