The trailer for Netflix’s Starting 5 – Season 2 is here and here are 5 reasons why fans are very much excited for the full release of this series come October 16.
5 – Whole New Cast, Same Excitement
In Season 1 of Starting 5, we saw the first cast of the Netflix sports series led by LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Domantas Sabonis and Jimmy Butler which follows their personal journey in the 2023-24 NBA Season.
This year, there’s a whole new lineup that fans will learn on how these players lived an entire season of the NBA.
Season 2 follows the adventures of Kevin Durant when he still was playing for the Phoenix Suns, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers and the 2025 NBA Champion, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
4 – Live Reaction to the “Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis” Trade
As seen in the trailer, fans will now get to see how the main cast of Starting 5 reacted in real time towards the “Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis” trade way back February 2025.
With arguably the trade of the century happening, Brown said in the trailer, “That might be one of the worst trades of all time.”
For SGA, he said “It turned up pretty quick.”
While KD probably had the same reaction with the majority of NBA fans saying:
“It’s become the wild, wild West. They gonna trade your ass, I’m telling you.”
3 – What It’s Like to be in a Playoff Huddle
Compared to Season 1 where both Sabonis and Butler failed to reach the 2023 Playoffs, the entire cast of Season 2 all made the Playoffs with at least a player suffering a 1st Round Exit.
That being, fans are treated to a delight on what it feels like to prepare in the NBA Playoffs with 2 players from the Eastern Conference and 3 Players from the Western Conference.
2 – Episode Titles Have Been Revealed
Aside from the trailer being released, Season 2 Episode Titles have also been revealed which fans can speculate what would be the focus in that particular episode.
- Episode 1 – Play to Win
- Episode 2 – Love & Basketball
- Episode 3 – Time Keeps on Slippin’
- Episode 4 – Mama’s Boys
- Episode 5 – Ring Chasing
- Episode 6 – Changing of the Guards
- Episode 7 – What The Hali
- Episode 8 – Collision Course
The most interesting part definitely is Ring Chasing, while fans have already speculated online that this way the KD trade to the Houston Rockets.
While the What The Hali is definitely the shot of Haliburton during the Game 1 of Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks and fans will get to see what it was like in the players perspective as Tyrese made that shot.
1 – A Series to get Everyone Hyped for the NBA’s 2024-25 Season
Prior to the NBA’s return come October 22 which will feature Houston vs OKC and the Warriors vs the Lakers, this series will give us fans a glimpse on what to expect in the new season.
KD in a whole new team, Harden with a rejuvenated team with the Clippers, Jaylen Brown being tasked as the “Main Guy” as Tatum heals from his injury, life of the Indiana Pacers as Hali heals from his ACL tear as well and the title defense of SGA and the rest of the OKC team.
If there’s anything certain? Once Season 2 gets released on October 16, NBA basketball will come back sooner than later.
