Another season, another viral Victor Wembanyama photo goes viral on the internet and sends shockwaves across the NBA. In his personal Instagram account, Wemby shared a picture of himself and NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon training together in the offseason, which is obviously for one reason: to improve his post moves and scoring.
The Dream Trains Another Big Shot
Olajuwon isn’t new to this kind of stuff. After his glory days in the ‘90s, The Dream has also been one of the most sought-after mentors, even to NBA stars. Some even say his fee goes as high as $50,000, which is just pennies for NBA players who want to take things to the next level. Some players he has been with are LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, all of whom made a name for themselves in the sport.
From one generational big to another, with Hakeem now teaching his footwork and post prowess to a young and eager Wembanyama, it may just be over for the league. For a 7-foot-5 center who can shoot lights out from deep, handles the ball well, and plays excellent rim defense, being a threat in the post is the worst threat a center could face. Just imagine Kevin Durant, but taller and bigger. If Wemby adds the “Dream Shake” and a series of spin moves and post fadeaways in his deep arsenal of moves, the league best prepare for it.
Last season, Wembanyama averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and an astonishing 3.8 blocks per game. His season was polarizing, but was cut short due to a blood clot scare. However, he was already selected to his first All-Star game and played one of his biggest nights in November after putting up 50 points against the Wizards at just 20 years old, becoming one of the youngest players to ever do so.
Is Victor Wembanyama on the right path to becoming the next MVP?
