The PVL Reinforced Conference “officially” began on Thursday with a doubleheader at the City of Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite. The Petro Gazz Angels took on the Galeries Tower Highrisers in the first game, followed by the Farm Fresh Foxies and Nxled Chameleons going at it in the nightcap. The day, though, belonged to Farm Fresh reinforcement Rousseaux.

Petro Gazz Starts Title Bid with Commanding Sweep of Galeries

The Petro Gazz Angels wasted no time serving notice to the rest of the league that they’re the real deal, dealing the Galeries Tower Highrisers a dominant 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 sweep to formally get the PVL Reinforced Conference going.

The Angels hardly broke a sweat, getting better as the match went along thanks to commanding performances from Brooke Van Sickle, who had 14 points and 6 excellent digs, and import Lindsey Vander, who added 13. Vander, as PVL fans would remember, was Petro Gazz’s import when they won the Reinforced Conference in 2022. Djanel Cheng anchored the Angels’ offense with 14 excellent sets to go along with 4 points of her own.

Galeries was so outclassed no Highriser got to double digits, though import Jelena Cvijovic and Dodee Batindaan each had 9.

Farm Fresh Upends Nxled Behind Eli Rousseaux

Farm Fresh Foxies import Eli Rousseaux was the story of this match, unloading 38 big points to lead her young team to a 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 victory over an equally talented and equally youthful Nxled Chameleons.

The Belgian national team member was a cut above in this match, recording 31 attacks, 4 aces, and 3 blocks in a debut that should serve notice to the PVL. Trisha Tubu and Ces Molina provided a semblance of support to Rousseaux, with Tubu chipping in 10 and Molina adding 9.

Chiara Permentilla topscored for Nxled with 18 markers, while Paola Martinez, Rousseaux’s counterpart, put up 15 in her debut for the Chameleons.
