The PVL Reinforced Conference Monday showcase at the Smart Araneta Coliseum saw the PLDT High Speed Hitters, winners of two consecutive titles, begin their quest for a third against the young Capital1 Solar Spikers led by top rookie Bella Belen. It also featured fan favorites Choco Mucho Flying Titans taking on the Cignal Super Spikers in the nightcap.

PLDT Continues Dominant Streak with Sweep of Capital1

The PLDT High Speed Hitters have never looked better. Champs of the previous two conferences, PLDT won their 14th straight match on Monday, dealing the Capital1 Solar Spikers a 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 sweep behind 16 kill blocks from a dominant defense.

Savi Davison put up import-like numbers for PLDT, finishing with 22 points built on 11 attacks and 7 kill blocks. The team’s actual import, the 6-foot-2 Anastila Bavykina, tallied just 15 points but did it all, recording 3 kill blocks, 2 aces, and 10 excellent receptions aside from anchoring the High Speed Hitters’ defense.

That defense held Capital1 import Oleksandra Bytsenko to 20 points in her PVL debut and stifled No. 1 overall pick Bella Belen to only 13.

Choco Mucho Bucks Being Importless, Upends Cignal

With import Anyse Smith unable to play, the Choco Mucho Flying Titans leaned on strong performances from their locals to pull out a 23-25, 25-19, 25-16, 27-25 victory over the Cignal Super Spikers.

Maddie Madayag and Isa Molde led the way for Choco Mucho, with the former putting up a team-high 18 points built on 11 attacks, 6 kill blocks, and 1 ace and the latter tallying 17 points on top of 13 excellent digs. Vanie Gandler scored 15 points on 12 attacks for Cignal, who committed 28 miscues. Import Eva Chantava, meanwhile, had a quiet 10-point debut.
