Bucks Escape Pacers Behind Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Heroics
Giannis Antetokounmpo made sure Myles Turner’s homecoming ended with a win as he nailed the game-winning jumper to lead the Milwaukee Bucks (5-2) to a 117-115 triumph over the injury-ravaged Indiana Pacers (1-6) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Antetokounmpo finished with 33 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Kyle Kuzma and Cole Anthony chipped in 15 and 11, respectively, off the Bucks’ bench. Turner, who made his return to Indiana after signing with Milwaukee in the offseason, had 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
Pascal Siakam’s 32 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals led the Pacers, who were without Tyrese Haliburton, Obi Toppin, T.J. McConnell, Bennedict Mathurin, and Andrew Nembhard.
Jazz Survive Celtics on Jusuf Nurkic’s Game-Winner
Jusuf Nurkic hit the go-ahead jump hook in regulation off an offensive rebound to help the Utah Jazz (3-4) notch a 105-103 nail-biter against the Boston Celtics (3-5) at TD Garden.
Nurkic had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the game, with his last carom and putback proving to be the marginal plays in a tight endgame. Keyonte George led the Jazz with 31 points, while Lauri Markkanen finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
Jaylen Brown led all scorers with 36 points on top of 4 assists and 2 steals, while Payton Pritchard had 18 points and 5 dimes.
Nuggets Overcome Kings on Nikola Jokic’s Season-High
Nikola Jokic dropped a season-high 34 points to lead the Denver Nuggets (4-2) to a 130-124 triumph over the Sacramento Kings (2-5) at Ball Arena.
okic added 7 rebounds, 14 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks in yet another all-around showcase. Aaron Gordon chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds, while Christian Braun had 21 markers.
Russell Westbrook, getting his first start of the season, led the Kings with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists in his Denver return. DeMar DeRozan added 19 points, while Domantas Sabonis finished with 13 points and 17 boards.
