Nuggets Send Reeling Clippers to Another Loss as Nikola Jokic Explodes

Nikola Jokic erupted for 55 points on Thursday to lead the Denver Nuggets (9-2) to a 130-116 victory over the reeling Los Angeles Clippers (3-8) at Intuit Dome.

Jokic, whose total matched Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 55 three weeks ago, fired 25 in the first quarter alone before dropping another 19 in Denver’s 43-point third quarter that proved to be the game-changer. Jokic also added 12 rebounds and 6 dimes to his monster outing. Aaron Gordon chipped in 18 for the Nuggets, while Jamal Murray and Tim Hardaway Jr. put up 15 and 12, respectively.

James Harden had 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Clippers, who have now lost six straight and seven of their last eight. Jordan Miller added 22 off the bench.

Warriors Give Spurs First Home Loss as Steph Curry Takes Charge

Steph Curry fired 29 second-half points to help the Golden State Warriors (7-6) pull out a crucial 125-120 triumph over the San Antonio Spurs (8-3) at Frost Bank Center.

Curry’s 29 points were part of the Warriors’ 76-point second half that allowed them to overcome a seven-point halftime deficit. The four-time champion finished with 46 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jimmy Butler added 28 points and 8 dimes to help the Warriors overcome triple-doubles from the Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle.

Wembanyama put up 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Castle had 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Thunder Humble Lakers with Rout

The Oklahoma City Thunder (12-1) turned what was supposed to be a marquee matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers (8-4) into a laugher, rolling to a 121-92 victory at Paycom Center.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander fired 30 points on top of 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the Thunder, who built a 70-38 advantage at the end of the first half. Big men Isaiah Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren had 11 apiece, Ajay Mitchell added 14, and Isaiah Joe came off the bench to score 21.

Luka Doncic was held to a season-low 19 points on 7-for-20 shooting as he struggled with the Thunder’s smothering defense. Austin Reaves, who is himself having an All-Star-caliber season, was limited to just 13. The two also combined for 9 of the Lakers’ 20 turnovers.
