Mapúa University star Clint Escamis shared in a post-game interview on November 14, 2025 what he believes the team needs to do to secure back-to-back championships in NCAA Season 101.
Main Goal Before Graduating: One More Title
The 25-year-old Season 100 Finals MVP said in the post-game interview last November 14 in their 77-61 win against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA that his main goal before graduating is to give the Cardinals another championship and that he doesn’t aim to win anymore personal awards.
“Siyempre back-to-back, yun talaga ang goal ko eh. Yung awards wala, tapos na yan eh. I’m more on the community, for the school, yung name sa harapan ‘Mapúa’. Gagawin ko talaga ang lahat para mag back-to-back.”
And when asked by Rebanse what the team needs in order to accomplish this goal, his response was that the team must be united more on the defensive side of the ball game.
“Para sa amin kailangan lang talaga namin magkaisa sa court, sa defense, lalo na sa defense.”
In their game against the No. 1 team in Group A, the Cardinals managed to hold their opponents to just one double-digit scorer, as only Josiah Alcantara reached 10 points for the ALTAs.
The 4th Year Industrial Engineering college student then added that their best players must know how to surrender their personal offensive scoring outputs and have more effort in their defensive schemes in order to win another title.
“And i-recognize yung mga best players namin, like, mag surrender kami sa team kumbaga hindi yung nara-rattle. Like, alam namin na kaya ng isa sa amin pero its more on the [who’s] willing to surrender to the coaches, to the team and open man kumbaga.”
Last 2 Games to Secure the Top 2 Spot
The Mapúa are now down to their last two games of the elimination round and are on pace to solidify in their plan to reach Top 2 of their respective group.
The Perpetual ALTAs have already secured the other Twice-to-Beat Advantage in Group A while the last one is being fought by the Cardinals and Arellano University Chiefs.
This would be the last 2 elimination round games for the defending champions:
- San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags – November 18 at FilOil EcoOil Centre
- Arellano University Chiefs – November 21 at FilOil EcoOil Centre
