NBA Daily Metrics: Luka Doncic Dominates Again while LeBron James Breaks NBA Record in Season Debut as Lakers Top Jazz

The Los Angeles Lakers (11-4) made it three-straight wins with a decisive 140-126 victory over the Utah Jazz (5-9) on November 19.

BEST PLAYER OF THE GAME:

Luka struggled from deep, converting just 2-of-10 attempts, but used a 13-for-16 showing from the line to grab his seventh 35-point game of the season. He’s been highly productive at the stripe, going 40-for-49 over his last three games. He also finished with his eighth double-double of the season. 

BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE:

George posted his second straight 30-point game and his fifth straight with at least six assists. He also hit a season-best five three-pointers despite struggling this month, shooting under 30% from deep.

Reaves notched his 11th 20-point performance, his third straight 25-point game, and his fourth game with 10+ free throws made this season.

Lauri Markkanen UTA PF 31 PTS | 12-21 FG | 4-4 FT | 45.0 FPS

Markkanen is on an explosive stretch, delivering another 30-point outing after back-to-back 40-point performances. He currently ranks second in the league in total points and sixth in points per game.

STAT SPECIALIST:

James made his season debut and immediately made his presence felt, finishing with a double-double — a feat he accomplished 32 times last season. He also hit two threes and moved to the sixth spot on the all-time three-pointers made list.

DominAyton has been incredible on offense over the past three games, converting 29 of 37 two-point attempts and recording a 20-point, 10-rebound performance in each outing. This also marked his sixth 20-point game and seventh 10-rebound game of the season.

LaRavia finally broke out of his shooting slump, posting his best scoring performance in his last eight games.

Nurkic continued his strong run, scoring 10 points for the third time in his last four games, posting his fifth consecutive 10-rebound game, and his third straight 5-assist performance.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE GAME:

Rui Hachimura LAL PF 6 PTS | 4 REB | 1 AST

Hachimura averaged 16.3 points on 57.1% shooting from three this month, but he was shut down today, recording his fourth game under 10 points, his second game this season with zero three-pointers, and his season-low in points.
