The pride of the Philippines, Alex Eala, has revealed her tournament schedule for the early part of 2026.
Pinay Against the World
First reported by a Philippine Sports Radio Program last November 27, here are the WTA tournaments that the world-ranked No. 50 Eala will participate in or is rumored to play from January to February 2026.
- WTA 250 Auckland (New Zealand)
- January 5 – 11
- WTA 250 Hobart International (Tasmania, Australia)
- January 12
- Not yet Official**
- WTA Grand Slam Australian Open (Melbourne, Australia)
- January 19 – February 1
- WTA 125 Philippine Women’s Open (Manila, Philippines)
- January 26 – 31
- WTA 500 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open (United Arab Emirates)
- February 1 – 7
The WTA 250 ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, was confirmed by Alex’s father, Michael Francis Eala. Meanwhile, the Grand Slam Australian Open has long been hinted at this year, as this is the only Grand Slam tournament that the Filiprima has not yet played in the Round of 32.
For the WTA 125 Philippine Women’s Open to be held here in the Philippines, as per the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Pato Gregorio, the only reason why Alex wouldn’t play in this event is if she goes deep into the playoffs for the Grand Slam Australian Open. If that scenario does happen, PSC Pato Gregorio said, “But if Alex succeeds in the Australian Open, we will be very happy.”
While the WTA 500 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open was confirmed, she will join and compete against the defending champion, Belinda Bencic.
Last 2 Serves for 2025
To end the historical year for the 2025 Guadalajara champion, the 20-year-old will still play for 2 more tournaments.
- 33rd Southeast Asian Games (Bangkok, Thailand)
- December 10 – 19
- MGM Macau Tennis Masters (Macau)
- December 27 – 28
Alex has stated her commitment to representing the Philippines in the upcoming SEA Games 2025. She lost in the Round of 16 of the WTA 250 Prudential Hong Kong Open 2025 last October 30.
“Yeah, it’s in my plans. SEA Games is definitely in my plans.” Eala told the press.
While for the MGM Macau Tennis Masters, though it will only be a 2-day event, Alex will be joined by elite tennis players such as Li Na and Conchita Martínez, Mirra Andreeva, Shang Juncheng, Jack Draper, and Jakub Menšík.
