The Galeries Highrisers have formally ushered in a new chapter ahead of the upcoming 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference, bannered by the arrival of veteran opposite spiker Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who headlines a wide-ranging roster rebuild.
Maizo-Pontillas’ signing gives Galeries a proven floor veteran known for her leadership, composure, and championship pedigree—qualities the Highrisers hope will translate into improved structure and on-court direction. The iconic UST Golden Tigress last played for the Petro Gazz Angels, who won the title in the PVL Reinforced Conference last season.
Highrisers Get Talent Boost Around Maizo-Pontillas
Joining her in reinforcing the squad is dynamic outside hitter Shola Alvarez, whose scoring ability and experience at the highest levels are expected to immediately boost Galeries’ offensive production.
The Highrisers also added fresh faces in Shar Ancheta, Erika Deloria, Cams Victoria, Dolly Versoza, Lycha Ebon, Julia Angeles, Erika Raagas, and libero Babylove Barbon, forming the core of the team’s newly retooled lineup.
Meanwhile, the rebuild also includes the return of familiar names, such as Julia Coronel, Jean Asis, Winnie Bedana, and Roselle Baliton, staying with the Highrisers for another conference.
With a blend of veteran leadership, offensive firepower, and returning familiarity, Galeries signals a clear intent to reset and reestablish itself as PVL action approaches. How quickly the Highrisers can develop chemistry around Maizo-Pontillas’ steady hand will be a key storyline heading into the new season.
