Alex Eala has reunited with her former doubles partner, Iva Jovic. The two will compete in the women’s doubles tournament of the WTA 1000 BNP Paribas Open.

The young pairing will begin their campaign in the Round of 32 on Friday, aiming to build on the encouraging form they displayed earlier this season.

The 20-year-old Eala is currently ranked No. 105 in the WTA doubles standings while the 18-year-old Jovic sits at No. 133. Their reunion marks another chapter in a budding partnership that has already shown promise on the tour.

Back in January 2026, the two competed at the WTA 250 ASB Classic where they reached the semifinals but got eliminated by the Chinese duo of Yifan Xu and Zhaoxuan Yang.

In New Zealand, Eala and Jovic defeated the veteran duo of Venus Williams and Elina Svitolina in the Round of 16 before receiving a walkover to play in the semis.

Up Against a Veteran Tandem

Alex Eala and Iva Jovic will open their Indian Wells campaign against the wildcard duo of Hailey Baptiste and Jelena Ostapenko. It is a formidable first-round assignment that promises a stern test right from the start.

Baptiste is ranked No. 118 in women’s doubles but already has a doubles title under her belt. Ostanpenko, on the other hand, is ranked No. 12 and has already won 12 doubles championships.

Should they advance past Baptiste and Ostapenko, Eala and Jovic could face an even tougher challenge in the next round.

Awaiting the winner is either the pairing of Victoria Mboko and Mirra Andreeva or the fourth-seeded tandem of Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai, setting up the possibility of a high-stakes showdown early in the tournament.
