The Letran Lady Knights are a perfect 12-0 so far in NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball after beating the Lyceum Lady Pirates on Wednesday and surviving the Arellano Chiefs on Friday.
Standout Nizelle Martin Identifies Major Reason for Winning Run
This historic run, according to Nizelle Martin, is as much a credit to Letran’s graduating players, whom she said are playing a crucial role in fueling the team’s winning streak and strengthening their bid for the championship.
“Ganun na nga din po sila na din, sa experience nila at tsaka yung role nila yung pinaka mahalaga din kaya parang kumbaga talagang sila ‘yung nag-ga-guide sa amin sa loob, lalo na kapag nawawala ‘yung bawat isa,” Nizelle Martin told Rebanse in an exclusive interview after the Lady Knights’ victory on Wednesday. The 23-year-old open outside hitter finished that match with 12 points, 1 block, 10 digs, and 11 spikes.
“Ini-stay nila ‘yung sarili nila na strong ‘yung mind nila para maging kalmado lang yung takbo ng laro.”
One of the graduating players for Letran is their setter, Natalie Estreller, who had 2 points, 18 excellent sets, and 4 digs in that win over Lyceum.
Nizelle Martin and the rest of the Lady Knights will now aim to finish the elimination round with 13 wins as they next take on their archrivals, the San Beda Lady Red Spikers.
