With their loss to the Galeries Tower Highrisers in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Bella Belen and the Capital1 Solar Spikers bowed out of contention, ending their campaign in the play-in stage.
In their 16-25, 20-25, 28-30 defeat to the lower-ranked Highrisers, Belen tried to will her team to a comeback, scoring six points in the closing stretch of the match. However, it was not enough, as Jean Asis and Gayle Pascual sealed the victory for Galeries Tower.
“Nakakalungkot kasi pakiramdam ko kaya naman sana namin. I feel like meron pa sana akong nagawa to contribute para mapanalo sana namin,” said Belen after the game. “Ayun, maraming lessons din this conference na kailangan talaga naming ma-absorb para sa next conference, ready na yung team.”
Solar Spikers Get Another Star Effort from Bella Belen
Bella Belen was the lone bright spot for her side with 21 points, along with 12 excellent digs, and 9 excellent receptions. Stepping up in crucial moments has always been part of her game.
“Sa akin naman, sa part ko, ganun talaga ako. I mean, pag tough situations, I feel like kaya ko,” she said.
However, Belen admitted she would welcome more support from her teammates, especially in games where she was the only player scoring in double digits.
“Siguro mas magiging maganda kung buong team. Pinag-usapan nga namin ni Coach Jorge kanina na parang… it’s all about the mental game talaga—’yung tapang, yung puso sa paglalaro, kailangan nandoon,” she explained.
“I feel like yun din yung kulang pa sa team siguro, dahil hindi pa ganoon karami yung experience namin as a team or as players. Pero feeling ko naman darating din kami sa point na kahit sino ang ipasok, kahit sino ang maglaro, kayang pumuntos for the team.”
For now, Bella Belen was the Solar Spikers’ lone bright spot. But with added experience, maybe Capital1 could give its star the support she needs.
