Alex Eala is set to open her first clay court tournament of the 2026 WTA season as she faces Julia Grabher in the Round of 32 of the Linz Open.
But what kind of player is Alex Eala really facing?
Julia Grabher: A Two-Time Clay Court Champion
The first thing fans must know is that clay is Julia Grabher’s best surface—and she has two championships to prove it. The 29-year-old won the 2025 WTA 125 Florianópolis as well as the 2022 WTA 125 Bari (Open delle Puglie).
To make things more interesting, Grabher will be playing in front of her home crowd against a fellow fan favorite in Eala.
Despite those titles, the world No. 54 is currently in the middle of a slump, having won only one of her last five matches.
The First Meeting Between Alex Eala and Julia Grabher
Aside from marking Eala’s debut at the Linz Open, this will also be the first career meeting between the two players.
And knowing that Alex’s clay court record last year was 2–6, this match presents a prime opportunity to shake off the rust and build some winning momentum on the surface.
