History was made in the continuation of the PVL All Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. Meanwhile, a title contender zoomed ahead for an early lead in the standings.

Zus Coffee Outlasts Nxled, Gets First-Ever PVL Win

The Zus Coffee Thunderbelles are winless and no longer in the PVL.

Zus Coffee finally broke through on Tuesday, edging out the Nxled Chameleons 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15, to snap their 20-game losing streak spanning nearly two seasons—or since the team first entered the league as Strong Group Athletics.

Veteran Jovelyn Gonzaga led the way for Zus Coffee with 23 points built on 20-for-30 attacks and 3 blocks. She also added 12 digs in an all-around performance fit for a franchise cornerstone. Thea Gagate, the no. 1 overall pick in the recent PVL Draft, showed she deserves the distinction, adding 16 points on 10 spikes, 5 blocks, and an ace.

The Thunderbelles will go for back-to-back wins on November 28 as they face the Galeries Tower Highrisers at the Philsports Arena in Pasig

PLDT Powers Past Galeries, Gains Share of Top Spot

The PLDT High Speed Hitters are now at the top of the standings in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.

This after they pulled out a hard-earned 27-25, 25-22, 25-23 victory over the Galeries Tower Highrisers in the nightcap of Tuesday’s double-header at Ynares Center.

Savi Davison was stellar as usual for PLDT, finishing with a game-high 28 points on 26 attacks. Her game-winning tip also capped off a superb 10-2 closing run that sealed the victory.

The Highrisers actually looked poised to extend the match to a fourth set as they raced to a 21-15 lead in the third. But costly errors led to a fierce PLDT fightback led by Davison and sent Galeries Tower to its third straight loss in the conference.

PLDT will take a one-week break before they next take on Capital1 Solar Spikers at the PhilSports Arena. Galeries Tower will try to arrest that three-game skid on November 23 when it takes on the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles also at the PhilSports Arena.

PVL Sets Up Shop at San Juan

The PVL All-Filipino Conference continues on Thursday with a doubleheader at the FilOil EcoOil Areba in San Juan. The first game will see the Cignal HD Spikers taking on the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, while the second game will be a clash between the Choco Mucho Flying Titans and Capital1 Solar Spikers.
