Alex Eala will play one last clay tournament before the French Open. This after she committed to compete in the WTA 500 Internationaux de Strasbourg Open, where she will go through the Qualifying Round.
At the moment, the Filipina ace is up to No. 42 in the WTA world rankings, with an excellent chance to move up even more with three more tournaments ahead of the second Grand Slam of the year.
The Final Test Before Roland Garros
The Internationaux de Strasbourg Open in France is scheduled on May 17 until 23. Last year, Elina Rybakina won the singles trophy but is yet to confirm her title defense as she isn’t in the player list yet.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old Filipina will also be joined by former opponents Barbora Krejcikova and Magda Linette in the Qualifying Round.
Eala is notably still finding her rhythm in in clay this season, having won just two of her five matches so far and suffering early exits one tournament after the other. The pride of Quezon City will try to change that in the WTA 1000 Italian Open starting on May 5 and running until 17. She is part of the Main Draw.
