San Francisco, CALIFORNIA – The Golden State Warriors didn’t give the Atlanta Hawks any chance at all after destroying Trae Young and his crew at the Chase Center on Thursday (November 21) in a blowout victory, 120-97.

Andrew Wiggins is Back!

Wiggins created his best performance so far after putting game-high and season-high 27 points on 70% shooting (12-for-17). On top of that, the former All-Star also recorded 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. The 29-year-old forward has been quiet since the 2023-2024 season after a controversial absence from the team. However, it seems that the former No. 1 pick is getting back on track. Wiggins is averaging 16.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game through 12 games. Trayce Jackson-Davis also contributed with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Of course, the reason behind the Warriors’ victorious games is none other than Steph Curry. Against the Hawks, Curry fired 23 points, including 4 triples.

Meanwhile, Trae Young recorded a 12-point, 11-assist double-double despite the huge loss. Five other Hawks players also chipped in with more than 10 points: Zaccharie Risacher (12), Jalen Johnson (15), Clint Capela (11), Dyson Daniels (11), and De’Andre Hunter (10). Hawks are now 7-9 and go down to the 7th seed in the East.

Golden State Warriors are Back on Top as the No.1 Seed

GSW have won 5 straight games at home and have taken 8 victories in their last 10 games. With a record of 11-3, they’re already sitting at the no.1 seed in a stacked Western conference. This is their best start in their first 14 matches since the 2021-2022 season where they had a 12-2 win-loss record.

Unfortunately, the cheers and celebration in the Bay area quickly became the opposite after learning about De’Anthony Melton’s health. Melton, who has been finding his role as a starter, has to undergo an ACL surgery which will force him to miss the rest of the 2024-2025 season. He’s been a key piece so far for the team as one of the major contributors on defense.

Aside from that, Brandin Podziemski was also helped off the court after getting hit in the face. He was rushed to the locker room, but thankfully, X-Rays were negative and as per head coach Steve Kerr, Podziemski did not break his nose. Regardless, he’ll be in a day-to-day in the next few games.
