The Benilde Blazers will get a massive upgrade in their frontcourt as La Salle Greenhills Greenies high school standout Brandon Yutuc has committed to be part of the seniors’ men’s basketball team.
Yutuc’s committment was officially reported by the LSGH NCAA Juniors Basketball Team and Blazers Pulse. The 6-foot-5 big man will continue his basketball career with the green and white beginning NCAA Season 102.
Brandon Yutuc: A Team Captain and a Finalist
In his final two years in high school, Brandon Yutuc fell short of bringing a championship to the Benilde community, but that did not stop him from making major contributions to the team.
Back in NCAA Season 100, Yutuc served as one of the defensive anchors of the Benilde LSGH Greenies. Although he wasn’t a volume scorer, Brandon embraced the role of a physical presence inside the paint, altering opponents’ shots and controlling the rebounds.
His efforts helped the Greenies reach the Finals, where they pushed the series to a winner-take-all Game 3 before ultimately falling short against the Perpetual Junior Altas.
In Season 101, Yutuc embraced a bigger role as team captain. The Greenies finished as the third seed but were eventually eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Arellano Braves.
Now with the men’s team, Yutuc could become a key player in the Blazers’ pursuit of an NCAA championship. As a rookie big man, he will also have the opportunity to learn from his seniors, notably back-to-back NCAA MVP Allen Liwag.
