The Nxled Chameleons will have to go through the 2026 PVL On Tour without its biggest offseason acquisition.
Chameleons head coach Ettore Guidetti confirmed that three-time PVL MVP Brooke Van Sickle will miss the entire preseason tournament due to a minor right shoulder injury.
Van Sickle joined the team in Ilagan, Isabela, for its opening match against the Creamline Cool Smashers but will remain on the sidelines as a precaution while she continues her recovery.
The Nxled captain is coming off another dominant campaign in the All-Filipino Conference, where she earned her third Best Outside Hitter citation and continued to establish herself as one of the league’s top two-way players.
Van Sickle finished the conference seventh in scoring with 175 points, seventh in spiking with a 33.12-percent success rate, ninth in serving with 0.22 aces per set, and third in receiving efficiency at 40.71 percent.
Gel Cayuna Withdraws From Alas Pool
Meanwhile, Guidetti also revealed that newly acquired setter Gel Cayuna has withdrawn from the Alas Pilipinas pool for the upcoming Asian Games.
The veteran playmaker decided to focus on her transition to Nxled as she builds chemistry with her new teammates following her offseason move from Cignal.
Cayuna joined the Chameleons after the HD Spikers took a leave of absence from the league.
Before the transfer, the 27-year-old setter wrapped up another strong season with Cignal, winning her second straight Best Setter award and fifth career positional recognition while leading the team to a runner-up finish in the All-Filipino Conference.
She also topped the league in playmaking after averaging 4.48 excellent sets per frame while adding 0.34 aces per set.
Without Van Sickle on the floor, Nxled will look to use the PVL On Tour as an opportunity to develop its new system while integrating Cayuna and the rest of its new pieces.
