Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala is now on her way to the US and gearing up for the final stretch of the 2026 season—this time on hard court and with the US Open as the final destination. But in her short stay in the Philippines, the 21-year-old certainly charmed her kababayans, inspired numerous up-and-coming players, and dropped nuggets of wisdom left and right.
One of the last nuggets of wisdom she left was in her brief interview with Karen Davila uploaded on the latter’s YouTube channel—and it should resonate with every Filipino because it best encapsulates why, at such a young age, Alex Eala looks so sure of herself, whether on the court or off it.
“My parents always tell me not to doubt. There’s no room for doubt,” Eala said when Davila asked about one piece of parental advice she won’t ever forget. “That’s one of the mantras that I carry with me in every match and every tournament.”
Indeed, Alex Eala has embodied that mantra perfectly. And it has her firmly on the road to tennis superstardom.
Family Is Love for Alex Eala
That unyielding self-belief isn’t the only thing Alex Eala can count on no matter what. She also has a support system unlike any other—that provided by her loving and supportive family.
“They’ve been so supportive,” Eala said about her family’s all-out support. “They’ve been through every step of the way with me. They know what it’s like, they know the journey, they understand what I’m going through. They are my support system. It’s really nice to have them.”
That journey has seen both exhilarating highs and heartbreaking losses. Yet, through it all, two things have remained constant for Alex Eala: her unshakable belief in herself that leaves no room for self-doubt, and the support of her family.
It’s proving to be quite the combination.
