PBA Season 49 kicked off last week on August 18. As a country passionate about basketball, we have plenty of insights and opinions about the game. Why not put that knowledge to the test? Let’s build a PBA Fantasy Team for the upcoming Conference.
I reviewed the league’s Player Rankings to check who had a good recent season and who hasn’t. My goal is to create a combination of Guards that can score and pass, Forwards that can shoot and defend, and a Center that can crash the boards and block shots.
Here is my PBA Fantasy Team:
- Robert Bolick (NLEX Road Warriors) – Guard
I am confident that he could be the Number 1 Fantasy Player this coming Season. There are only a few PBA Players who can explode in stats at any point in time, and I firmly believe Berto is at the top of that list. With that said, I actually see him as the Pinoy James Harden. - Chris Newsome (Meralco Bolts) – Guard
I view Newnew as the Kawhi Leonard of PBA Fantasy. A solid defender with good efficiencies. On top of that, he has the upside to also score big from time to time. Similar to The Klaw, Newsome also loves shooting a lot of mid-range shots, which actually influences his percentages. - Arvin Tolentino (North Port Batang Pier) – Forward
A solid defender with a good offensive upside. An easy 1-1-1 guy: 1 Steal, 1 Block, and 1 Three-pointer. If there’s any player with a stat build I could compare him to, it’s probably PG13. - Calvin Oftana (TNT Tropang Giga) – Forward
A forward who can go lights out from the outside and haul in a lot of rebounds. Calvin is an obvious prototype of MPJ. One key difference—Oftana can actually pass. - June Mar Fajardo (San Miguel Beermen) – Center
I don’t think you can create the best PBA Fantasy Lineup without including the Legendary Kraken. A double-double machine and more.
