The winning culture of the McLaren Mastercard F1 Team will not be fading anytime soon, after announcing a long‑term contract extension with franchise star Lando Norris for at least four more seasons.
The team officially announced the deal on Saturday, tying Norris to the orange‑and‑white livery until 2030, with multi‑year options to possibly extend the reigning world champion’s stay even further.
Norris expressed deep gratitude for McLaren’s continued belief in him, as he remains with the same team where he began his F1 career in 2017 as a test driver.
“McLaren is my home, and I’m very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030,” Norris said in a team statement.
“When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win championships. We’ve achieved that goal, but we want more, we want to keep on winning, and we know as a team that we’re capable of achieving it.”
Lando Norris and McLaren Look to Continue Winning Ways
Since being promoted to a race seat in 2019, Lando Norris has evolved into one of the biggest faces in motorsport, sharing the track with standout teammates including Carlos Sainz, Daniel Ricciardo, and current partner Oscar Piastri.
In his short but decorated career, the 26‑year‑old boasts 13 Grand Prix victories, 18 pole positions, 48 podium finishes, and the elusive 2025 World Championship.
His initial contract was set to expire after this season, but McLaren ensured Norris would not steer for any other team until the end of the decade—at the very least.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown underscored the importance of the extension, highlighting the team’s long‑term championship ambitions.
“I’m incredibly pleased to be signing a new contract with Lando, extending his commitment with McLaren until at least 2030. His journey with the team is a fantastic example of our commitment to identifying, developing, and supporting world‑class talent, and his achievements speak for themselves,” Brown said.
“We are extremely excited about what lies ahead and remain fully focused on continuing to compete for wins and championships,” he added.
