The PVL is bringing its landmark 10th season to Cebu.
The PVL will officially open its 2026 season on October 10 at the newly opened SM Seaside Cebu Arena, marking a milestone season with a grand opening outside Metro Manila.
The celebration will feature a blockbuster triple‑header, led by two PVL matches. The Choco Mucho Flying Titans and Capital1 Solar Spikers will kick off the action at 1:00 p.m., followed by a featured clash between the Creamline Cool Smashers and Akari Chargers at 6:00 p.m. A Spikers’ Turf match will complete the day’s festivities.
Why Cebu Makes Sense for the PVL Opening
For the PVL, taking its 10th‑season opener to Cebu is a fitting nod to one of the country’s strongest volleyball communities.
Cebu has long been a source of talent for the league, producing players who have become established names in the PVL. Among them are Choco Mucho stars Sisi Rondina of Compostela, Cebu, and Deanna Wong of Minglanilla, as well as Isa Molde of Catmon.
Creamline’s Barbie Jamili, Capital1’s Khy Cepada, Farm Fresh Foxies’ Lorene Toring and Pierre Abellana, Nxled Chameleons’ Krich Macaslang, and PLDT High Speed Hitters’ Shiela Kiseo are also among the league’s players with Cebuano roots.
That connection extends beyond the professional ranks. Cebu and the wider Visayas have continued to develop as important sources of emerging volleyball talent, strengthened by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc.’s regional competitions and grassroots initiatives.
Last year, Sports Vision launched the V‑League Visayas, featuring six men’s and six women’s collegiate teams from Cebu and schools affiliated with the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI). The regional competition expanded further in July with the Panay‑Negros tournament in Passi City, Iloilo.
These programs have helped create a pathway for young players in the Visayas to develop and eventually make the jump to the PVL and other top competitions in the country.
SM Seaside Cebu Arena Hits the Big Time
The 10th‑season opener also gives Cebu its first look at the new SM Seaside Cebu Arena, which broke ground in 2021 and officially opened to the public last July.
The Spikers’ Turf will also be part of the milestone celebration, with a match completing the triple‑header and bringing the country’s top men’s volleyball league to the Cebu stage.
With a new venue, a milestone season, and some of the PVL’s biggest names on the court, Cebu is set to become the center of Philippine volleyball on October 10.
For a league that has grown significantly over its first decade, opening its 10th season in one of the country’s biggest volleyball hotbeds serves as a fitting celebration of just how far the PVL has come—and where it can go next.
