Filipinas captain Hali Long is taking her leadership somewhere new. The Philippine Women’s National Football Team captain has signed with Brisbane Roar ahead of the 2026-27 A-League Women’s season, adding an Australian chapter to a career that’s already carried her through the United States, the Philippines, and Thailand.

The 31-year-old center back arrives in Brisbane as the most-capped player in Philippine women’s football history, with 106 international appearances to her name. Her résumé includes a starting role in every match of the Philippines’ run at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the team faced Switzerland, New Zealand, and Norway, and delivered the country’s first-ever World Cup victory with a win over co-hosts New Zealand in Wellington. She reached her 100th cap at the 2025 SEA Games, where the Filipinas won an historic gold, and is set to captain the side once again at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.

“I’m excited to take on a new challenge in a new country and ready to push myself while helping the team reach its goals this year,” Long said in a Roar press release. “I can’t wait to meet the girls and get started.”

Hali Long Continues Distinguished Career

Roar head coach Johnathan Clemente didn’t hold back in describing what the club is getting. “Hali is a genuine, proper defender,” Clemente said. “She loves to tackle and head the ball in all circumstances, and she’ll no doubt put her body on the line for Brisbane. A leader and legend of Philippines football as captain with 106 international caps.”

Hali Long’s path to Brisbane has taken her through several stops already. She began her career with the Little Rock Trojans in the United States, representing the University of Arkansas, before signing with Kaya-Iloilo in the PFF Women’s League, where she won two league titles.

From there, she moved to BGC College of Asian Scholars in Thailand, where her form only grew. She was named Thai Women’s League MVP this year after leading BGC to an undefeated championship title. Along the way, she’s also gained continental experience in the AFC Women’s Champions League, representing both Kaya and BGC on that stage.
