The Nxled Chameleons beat the PLDT High Speed Hitters, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18, in the 2026–27 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with team captain Brooke Van Sickle back on the court after 199 days.
After cruising through the first set, Nxled fell behind 3-9 in the second. EJ Cariño led the comeback with timely kills and a block on Mika Reyes, while Lyann De Guzman added back-to-back aces to tie the score at 9-9. Cariño kept the run going, and a net fault by Kim Fajardo gave the Chameleons their 10th straight point and a 13-9 lead.
Nxled Finishes Things With Dominant Third
PLDT pulled within 12-13, but Nxled scored the next three points to lead 16-12 at the second technical timeout. Myla Pablo stretched the lead to 19-14, and Jackie Acuña’s running attack closed the set. The Chameleons controlled the third set from start to finish.
“We continued from where we finished. That was the Invitational Final, so for us, it’s simply a continuity game. As I told you 2,000 times, we try to be better and better and better. And today, we showed some more improvement, so we’re really happy,” said Nxled head coach Ettore Guidetti.
“And also, you know, when there are new rules, it’s not simple to immediately find a good alchemy and a good strategy. But it looks like we got good ideas on how to drive the solution in the game. So it worked well, and I’m really happy about that,” he added.
Van Sickle earned Player of the Game honors, finishing with 11 points on 10 attacks and 1 block, along with 8 excellent digs.
Gel Cayuna dished out 14 excellent sets, while liberos Shiela Pineda and Irah Jaboneta contributed 8 excellent digs and 9 excellent receptions, respectively.
For the High Speed Hitters, Savannah Davison had 10 points, plus 18 excellent receptions and 7 excellent digs.
