There is no question the Philadelphia 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey made the leap last year. An All-Star berth and the Most Improved Player plum are proof of it.

But with Paul George brought in through free agency, Maxey seemed headed to being the third wheel. A third of the season in and he has proven to be anything but a third star. At times, in fact, he has been the Sixers’ best player, especially with both George and Joel Embiid missing a ton of games.
The fourth-year combo guard has been spectacular all season, scoring in bunches like he always does and taking on a more aggressive playmaking role for the Sixers.
In other words, Maxey is proving that his star won’t just keep shining but will actually grow bigger and brighter.
