PBA Commissioner’s Cup Power Rankings: There’s a New No. 1 as Elims Wind Down

The elimination round of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup is headed for a wild conclusion. Six teams essentially have identical records and are separated by a mere game. All six could also grab the top two seeds. Near the bottom, four teams are fighting over the last two seeds and the twice-to-win disadvantage.

With that being said, here is Rebanse’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup Power Rankings spanning January 13 thru January 19.

(Note: Standings are as of January 19.)

1.    TNT Tropang Giga (6-2)

Six weeks and counting for TNT—including a convincing triumph over nemesis Barangay Ginebra San Miguel—prove TNT is rounding into championship form. The defense, while not as smothering as last conference is getting it done in spurts, with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson again typifying the Tropa’s resolve on that end.

2.    Converge FiberXers (8-3)

Jordan Heading is proving to be an elite playmaker and Justine Baltazar is looking more and more like the no. 1 overall pick. Alec Stockton is continuing his ascent and Schonny Winston is finding his groove this conference after a slow start. All things considered, Converge seems to be peaking. An apparent knee injury to Justin Arana, though, might dampen the mood a bit.

3.    Meralco Bolts (7-3)

Defense is once again on point for the Bolts, who are finally getting healthy bodies back. Akil Mitchell has been a steady force, while Chris Banchero has been on a tear as of late. Brandon Bates has also been a big boost to Meralco’s frontline and is holding down the fort in the interior.

4.    Hong Kong Eastern (7-3)

The league’s guests finally found a rhythm on offense against the listless Terrafirma Dyip to break out of their slump. With NLEX and Magnolia on tap, a twice-to-beat edge seems possible.

5.    Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (6-3)

Rain or Shine’s guns fell silent versus Converge but were blazing hot against NorthPort. Offense clearly is the name of the game for these Elasto Painters, and they’ve been doing very well on that end.

6.    NorthPort Batang Pier (7-3)

NorthPort was due for a course correction at some point. This is it. The ring appears to be getting smaller for the young Batang Pier, who is dealing with adversity for the first time this conference. The three-point shot has deserted them and the offense has stalled, leading to back-to-back losses.

7.    Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (6-4)

Ginebra’s search for consistency continues as the crowd darlings have now lost two of their three games in 2025. Now, they’re in danger of falling to twice-to-win disadvantage territory.

8.    NLEX Road Warriors (4-6)

Huge win over Phoenix shows what NLEX can do when other Road Warriors step up to help the prolific duo of Robert Bolick and Mike Watkins. The backdoor to the quarters is now open.

9.    San Miguel Beermen (4-5) ◀️▶️

The Beermen brought in their fourth import of the conference, but the struggles continued against Meralco. Import woes are partly to blame, but so are the inconsistent locals.

 10.    Magnolia Hotshots (4-6)

Zav Lucero and Peter Alfaro stepping up lately shows young guns could be the answer to Magnolia’s challenging conference.

11.  Phoenix Fuel Masters (3-7)

Two wins to start 2025 gave Phoenix hope. Two losses there after officially eliminated the Fuel Masters from the quarters race. Donovan Smith isn’t to blame, though.

12.  Blackwater Bossing (2-8) ◀️▶️

Watching George King chuck it up with no conscience has been hard on the eyes.

13.  Terrafirma Dyip (0-11) ◀️▶️

If only Stanley Pringle, Terrence Romeo, and Vic Manuel were five years younger.
