Capital1 Solar Spikers setter Iris Tolenada is usually genial and cheerful. But she won’t always take disrespect sitting down.

She recently served up a reminder of that on X (formerly Twitter) after a certain Kween Sammy called her out for what she perceived as Toledana’s “horror” set selection. The X user also suggested Capital1 to make a run at another setter, Jaja Maraguinot of the Akari Chargers. This after Capital1 lost its first match of 2025 to the Creamline Cool Smashers.

“Jaja Maraguinot sa Capital 1,” Kween Sammy wrote on X. “Que horror talaga yung set location ni Tolenada.”

The 33-year-old veteran responded in the most Iris Tolenada way: fierce, mostly measured, and with a sprinkling of sarcasm.

“Here go the Twitter thumbs that aren’t in the gym with me and my team every day & can’t do a sliver of what I do. Pero go lang I’m sure you’re perfect in everything you do too. Love the confidence tho,” Tolenada replied.

Iris Tolenada May Be a Sweetheart, But She’s Also Honest and Forthright

Among Capital1’s leaders, Toledana has always been one to speak her mind, but always in a careful, deliberate, and articulate manner.

A great case in point is her reaction to the controversial denied challenge in the crucial match between the PLDT High Speed Hitters and Akari Chargers last year. Take a look:

Careful, deliberate, and articulate. That’s Iris Tolenada when she speaks her mind.

Here is Toledana giving another X user a piece of her mind:

So, in many ways, Tolenada responding to a Twitter thumb shouldn’t be surprising. Now, she doesn’t always respond to keyboard warriors, but she can most definitely be zingy and candid when she does.
