Friday’s six-game slate in the NBA featured the three teams that made the most noise in the trade deadline. And they are all in today’s daily notables:
Lakers Beat Warriors as LeBron James Makes History
LeBron James continued his history-making ways, dropping 42 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers (30-19) to a 120-112 victory over the Golden State Warriors (25-26) at crypto.com Arena.
With his five threes to go along his all-around stat line, James became the first player aged 30+ to record at least 30 points, 15 boards, 5 assists, and 5 threes, according to StatMuse. James at one point hit three straight treys in an 18-point second quarter to help the Lakers build a 26-point advantage going to intermission. Austin Reaves added 23, while Rui Hachimura and Jaxson Hayes had 11 apiece.
Steph Curry fired 37 points for the Warriors, who stormed back with a 32-12 third quarter and got to within 109-104 in the fourth. Buddy Hield and Draymond Green added 15 and 12, respectively.

Wolves Outlast Rockets as Anthony Edwards Fires 41
Anthony Edwards fired a game-high 41 points to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves (29-23) to a 127-114 triumph over the Houston Rockets (32-19) at Target Center.
Edwards added 7 rebounds and 6 assists to his brilliant performance. He also scored 16 of his 42 in the fourth when the Wolves overcame a six-point Rockets lead. Rudy Gobert added 13 points and 10 boards and had two dunks to start Minnesota’s fourth quarter rally. Jaylen Clark chipped in a career-high 17 off the bench.
Jalen Green topscored for the Rockets with 28 points on top of 6 rebounds and 5 dimes. Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, and Cam Whitmore finished with 16 apiece as Houston lost a fifth straight time.

Mavs Stun Celtics as Klay Thompson Delivers Vintage Performance
Klay Thompson scored 25 points—23 in the first half—to lead the Dallas Mavericks (27-25) to 127-120 stunner against the East-leading Boston Celtics (36-16) at TD Garden.
Spencer Dinwiddie and Naji Marshall added 22 and 20, respectively, off the bench for the Mavs, who raced out to a 67-56 first half lead on the back of Thompson’s fiery start. Dallas built on the lead with a 37-27 third quarter and extended it further to 114-99 on back-to-back treys from Kyrie Irving.
Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 25 points. Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis added 17 apiece, while Payton Pritchard fired 21 off the Boston bench. Pritchard was part of the bench unit that cut the Mavs lead to single digits in the final minute.
