Adamson University Lady Falcons shocked the defending champions, the National University Lady Bulldogs, on Sunday, April 6. The Lady Bulldogs played without their opposite spiker, Alyssa Solomon, who suffered from a minor sprain in her left angle.
Despite the loss, the Lady Bulldogs are still on top of the standings with a 9-2 win-loss record, closely followed by the De La Salle University Lady Spikers with an 8-3 record.
The Far Eastern Univeristy Lady Tamaraws and the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses are tied in the third and fourth spot with an identical 7-4 win-loss record, while the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons are in fifth spot with a 5-6 record.
The Ateneo de Manila Univeristy and the Adamson University Lady Falcons are tied with an identical 4-7 win-loss record. At the same time, the University of the East Lady Red Warriors are still winless in 11 games.

Adamson University Lady Falcons rookie captain Shaina Nitura exploded for 32 points as they shocked the defending champions, the National University Lady Bulldogs, on Sunday, April 6.
Nitura was the lone bright spot for the Lady Falcons in her 30 attacks and two blocks, while Frances Mordi and May Ann Nuique combined for 17 points.
For the Lady Bulldogs, team captain Bella Belen had a team-high 19 points in 17 attacks and two aces, while Vange Alinsug contributed 16 points 14 attacks. Minierva Maaya added 12 points, while Erin Pangilinan and Arah Panique had 10 points apiece.
After the match, Lady Falcons head coach JP Yude gave credits to God after their upset win. He said, “We praise and thank God for the win kasi kapag will ni Lord, no one can stop. I’m very proud sa mga bata ngayon kasi una pa lang pagsalang pa lang nila, unang point pa lang, alam ko na na maglalaro sila ng gusto nila manalo sa game na ‘to.”
With the win, the Lady Falcons improved to a 4-7 win-loss record, while the Lady Bulldogs are still in the top place with a 9-2 card.
Adamson University will face the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws on Saturday, April 12, at 3 pm at the Araneta Coliseum. Meanwhile, the National University will try to get back to their winning ways against the winless University of the East Lady Red Warriors on Wednesday, April 9, at 1 pm.

The trio of Faida Bakanke, Chenie Tagaod, and Gerzel Mae Petallo combined for 48 points in Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws 25-21, 25-16, 14-25, 26-24 against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Sunday, April 6.
Bakanke had 20 points in 17 attacks, while Tagaod and Petallo both had 14 points.
For the Fighting Maroons, Kianne Olango, Joan Monares, and Irah Jaboneta scored 13 points apiece, while Niña Ytang contributed 11 points.
Lady Tamaraws head coach Tina Salak described her feelings as that of someone watching a horror and a drama show. She said, “Para akong nanonood ng action tapos biglang drama, ang hirap para sa amin i-maintain ‘yung lead pero nakita ko ‘yung maturity ng players kung paano namin i-handle ‘yung behind four points. Very happy na nagkaroon kami ng ganoong turnout.”
The Lady Tamaraws improved to the third place at 7-4 win-loss record, while the Fighting Maroons dropped to the fifth spot with 5-6 win-loss record.
The Far Eastern University will face the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Wednesday, April 9, at 3 pm. Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons will take on the De La Salle University Lady Spikers on Sunday, April 13, at 3 pm.

Angel Canino and Shevana Laput once again led De La Salle University in their 25-22, 25-13, 25-23 victory against the University of the East Lady Red Warriors as they combined for 30 points on Saturday, April 5.
Canino had 16 points in 12 attacks, three blocks, and an ace, while Laput scored 14 points in 11 attacks.
Nessa Bangayan scored 13 points in 11 attacks, a block, and an ace, while KC Cepada had 11 points.
After the game, Canino still believed that they have yet to achieve their peak this season. She said, “Hindi ko masasabing ito na ‘yung peak namin, pero at the same time, merong mga nalalabas kasing skills namin, merong nalalabas na bago sa’min. Hindi pa ‘to ‘yung peak talaga, hindi ko masasabing ito na ‘yung peak talaga kasi we believe na meron pa kaming more na malalabas.”
With the win, the Lady Spikers improved to an 8-3 win-loss record, while the Lady Red Warriors are still winless at the bottom of the standings with a 0-11 record.
The De La Salle University will face the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Sunday, April 13, at 3 pm. Meanwhile, the University of the East will take on the National University Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 9, at 1 pm.

Margaret Altea was back on her natural position as middle blocker as she scored 10 points in three blocks in the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses 25-15, 26-24, 26-24 victory against the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Ealges on Saturday, April 5.
Angge Poyos scored a team-high 16 points in 15 attacks, while Altea and Regina Jurado both scored 10 points.
For the Blue Ealges, Alexis Miner had 13 points in 12 attacks and one block, while Lyann de Guzman scored 12 points.
After the game, Golden Tigresses head coach Kungfu Reyes was happy how his team played in this match. He said, “Well, happy kami na na-sustain namin ‘yung ganoong situation. So, ‘yung maturity, judgment ng mga player is at least every game na nagta-translate kung ano ‘yung gusto nilang mangyari towards the endgame.”
With the win, the Golden Tigresses are still in the fourth spot with a 7-4 win-loss record, while the Blue Eagles are in the sixth spot with a 4-7 record.
The University of Santo Tomas will face the University of the East Lady Red Warriors on Saturday, April 12, at 1 pm. Meanwhile, the Ateneo de Manila University will take on the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws on Wednesday, April 9, at 3 pm.
