Stephen Holt was exceptional as Ginebra bounced back on September 3 with a commanding 119-91 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors. In this thrilling match, Holt led Barangay Ginebra San Miguel to victory, helping his team recover from a disappointing game against Blackwater.
Following a disappointing game against Blackwater, Ginebra came out strong, quickly establishing a lead that they maintained throughout the match. The men in white were led by former #1 pick Stephen Holt who played his best game with Ginebra. He finished with a highly efficient 26 pts together with 11 rebounds and 6 assists. He was well-supported by Maverick Ahanmisi, who added 20 points, and Scottie Thompson, who contributed 19 points despite recent shooting struggles. Rookie RJ Abarrientos also shone brightly, setting a career-high with 19 points.
For NLEX, Robert Bolick led with 19 points, while import Myke Henry struggled with turnovers but managed 16 points. Robbie Herndon and Dominic Fajardo added 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Ginebra’s Dominance on Full Display
Barangay Ginebra played an almost flawless game, shooting the ball really well and playing terrific defense. They even led by as much as 21 points by halftime and outperformed NLEX in key areas like fastbreak points and starter contributions. They continued their dominance in the third and in the fourth as they pushed their lead to a high of 33 (67-100).
But the Road Warriors with their bench and Myke Henry wouldn’t go down without a fight. As they figured out a push, late in the fourth and even trimmed the lead to 19 (87-106). But Ginebra maintained composure and eventually secured the win (91-119).
