Boston Celtics vs. Orlando Magic (Apr 24, 7:00 AM)

Standings: Seed 2 vs. Seed 7
Regular Season Series: ORL wins 2-1
Playoff Series: BOS leads 1-0

Key Insights:

The Celtics live and die by the three, leading the NBA in both makes and attempts from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, the Magic counter with one of the league’s stingiest defenses, ranking first in blocks, second in defensive rating, and sixth in steals.

However, Orlando’s offensive struggles are evident. They’re near the bottom in offensive rating, and outside of their top two scorers, they lack consistent production.

Players to Watch:

Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum
Tatum has scored 25+ points in 51 games this season and in six of his last seven matchups against the Magic. Among all power forwards, he ranks first in three-pointers made, second in assists, and third in rebounds.

Kristaps Porzingis
Despite a quiet scoring night in Game 1, KP still tallied five combined steals and blocks. His ability to stretch the floor while anchoring the paint makes him a crucial two-way factor for Boston.

Derrick White
Arguably the top two-way player in this matchup. White hit seven threes and added three stocks in Game 1. He’s reached six or more threes in nine games and has tallied three+ stocks 27 times this year.

Jaylen Brown
Brown has been consistent against the Magic, averaging 27.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in two games this season. He’s scored at least 18 points in his last eight meetings with them.

Payton Pritchard
Pritchard led all bench players in both total points and threes this season. He just had his best-ever playoff scoring game and should continue to play a key role in Game 2.

Orlando Magic

Paolo Banchero
Banchero ranks fourth in scoring among power forwards and exploded in Game 1 after underwhelming regular-season numbers vs. Boston. His size and offensive versatility will be key for Orlando.

Franz Wagner
Wagner had scored under 20 in 10 of 11 games vs. the Celtics, but he turned that around in Game 1. Despite some inefficiency, he contributes across the board and regularly leads Orlando in scoring, rebounds, and assists.

Cole Anthony
With Banchero and Wagner combining for nearly half of Orlando’s points, Anthony remains their third option. He’s scored 20+ in nine games this year and is a potential X-factor.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
KCP’s defense and rebounding have value, but it’s his outside shooting that could swing a game. The Magic rank last in threes made, so they’ll need him to step up from deep.

Wendell Carter Jr.
Carter provides steady rebounding and defensive presence. Though not a big scorer, his ability to clean the glass and defend the paint remains vital for Orlando.

Injury Report

Orlando Magic

DFS Tip:

Tatum and White offer high ceilings with strong all-around stats. For value, Pritchard’s scoring off the bench is hard to ignore. On the Magic side, Banchero is the safest bet for consistent production, while Wagner and Anthony provide high upside if the game stays close.
