The Philippine men’s national volleyball team is preparing for a packed 2025 calendar under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Angiolino Frigoni. After being named head coach in 2024, 2025 marks his first full year at the helm.
Alas Pilipinas Men’s Training Pool for 2025
The training pool includes standout collegiate players like UAAP MVPs Kennedy Batas (Ateneo Blue Eagles) and Josh Ybañez (UST Golden Spikers). Other collegiate players include Noel Kampton, Menard Guerrero, and Nathaniel Del Pilar from the De La Salle Green Spikers; JJ Macam, Trevor Valera, and Al-Bukharie Sali from UST; and Andre Bicar and Shan Camaymayan from the UE Red Warriors.
Players from the reigning UAAP champions, the NU Bulldogs, are expected to join, including former national team members Jade Disquitado, Buds Buddin, Peng Taguibolos, and Leo Ordiales.
From the pro circuit, Cignal HD Spikers’ Jau Umandal, Steven Rotter, Wendel Miguel, Lloyd Josafar, Vince Lorenzo, Louie Ramirez, EJ Casaña, JP Bugaoan, and Owa Retamar are also part of the training pool. They are joined by Criss Cross King Crunchers members Marck Espejo, Gian Glorioso, Kim Malabunga, and Lucca Mamone, as well as JM Paglaon of Savouge Spin Doctors and Ike Barilea of Team1 Silay.

AVC Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup 2025: When and Where
When: June 17-24
Where: Bahrain
Alas Pilipinas Men will compete in the 2025 AVC Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup in Bahrain. In the 2024 edition, the Philippines placed 10th in the 12-team competition. This tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2026 Asian Championship.
Southeast Asian V. League 2025: When and Where

The Philippine men’s national team will participate in the 3rd Southeast Asian V. League. In 2024, the team improved from its twin fourth-place finishes in 2023 to earn bronze in both weeks.
FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship 2025: When and Where
When: September 12-28
Where: Philippines
For the first time in history, the Philippines will host and compete in the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship. Alas Pilipinas Men is placed in Pool A alongside:

- Tunisia
- Philippines
This tournament marks a major milestone for Philippine volleyball, offering home-court advantage and global exposure.
2025 Southeast Asian Games: When and Where
When: December 9-20
Where: Thailand
To conclude their 2025 season, the Philippine men’s team will compete in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games. The team placed fifth in both 2021 and 2023, following their historic silver-medal finish in 2019.
