After playing her heart out for the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference and the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League, Filipino-Canadian outside spiker Savi Davison said she would need to beg off from being part of Alas Pilipinas, the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team.
Davison was included in the 33-player wishlist of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation to form the national team members who would compete in the 6th AVC Challenge Cup for Women from June 8 to 15, the 5th Southeast Asian V. League from July 25 to August 3, and the 33rd SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand from December 7 to 19.
After PLDT’s 13-25, 22-25, 20-25 loss against Zhetysu Volleyball Club of Kazakhstan in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League, Davison revealed that she will take time off to go back to her family in Canada and recover after months of playing intense volleyball.
“Maybe in a little bit, maybe in December when December comes. But right now, it’s just not my priority,” she revealed. “We just came off of a really long conference, plus the AVC, so I’m getting to get as far from volleyball as I can for the next month and then maybe dabble on it. But right now, it’s not on my list for at least this moment.”
The PLDT High Speed Hitters ended in the fifth rank in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference. Their season ended well, but they became a replacement team in the AVC Women’s Challenge Cup after Japan’s NEC Red Rockets withdrew from the competition.
Aside from Davison, also part of the Alas Pilipinas invitees were national team members Tia Andaya, Julia Coronel, Jia De Guzman, Dawn Catindig, Jennifer Nierva, Hannah Stires, Faith Nisperos, Bella Belen, Angel Canino, Vanie Gandler, Eya Laurel, Arah Panique, Thea Gagate, Dell Palomata, and Fifi Sharma.
PVL stars Mars Alba, Justine Jazareno, Tots Carlos, Eli Soyuz, Glaudine Troncoso, Brooke Van Sickle, Jeanette Panaga, and MJ Philippines were also invited, as well as Maddie Madayag, who is currently in Japan.
UAAP Stars Lams Lamina, Shevana Laput, Alyssa Solomon, Vange Alinsug, Alleiah Malaluan, Shaina Nitura, Clarisse Loresco, and Amie Provido were also part of the list.
