Graduating Alessandra Razonable had 13 points built on 11 attacks, along with 7 excellent digs and 7 excellent receptions on Friday to help give the EAC Lady Generals that elusive first victory at the expense of the Lyceum Lady Pirates.
And it couldn’t have come at a better time: With the win, EAC now moves on to the quarterfinals with the opportunity to shock the NCAA landscape.
Razonable Says On-Court Connection, Confidence Much Better in Play-In
Asked about what keyed EAC’s big win, the 24-year-old Lady General said the team’s improved connection with each other did the trick, along with a team-wide belief that they could pull out the win.
“’Yung connection po talaga ng bawat isa sa loob [ng court]. From passing to setting, then ‘yung connection po ng setters sa spikers, ‘yun po talaga nakikita kong nagiging problem namin,” she said in an exclusive interview with Rebanse. “And confidence po ng bawat isa, kung paano po nila ilalagay yung sarili nila sa mga bawat sitwasyon na nangyayari sa loob ng court.”
Indeed, the Lady Generals looked like a confident, well-functioning unit on Friday, and the result spoke for itself: a 25-23, 25-16, 26-24 victory that sealed a quarts date with the Perpetual Help Lady Altas.
EAC Needs More Moving Forward
There’ll be no rest for EAC as they only have one day to prepare for the Lady Altas, who enjoy a win-now edge in their clash with the Lady Generals on Sunday. And, ahead of that pivotal matchup, Razonable knows exactly what EAC needs to do.
“May iba’t ibang strategy po kasi yung mga kalaban, and sana po sa next game po namin madali po kami makapag-adjust and mas matutukan po namin kung paano dedepensahan and makakapag offense ng mas maging efficient kaming lahat na players po,” Razonable pointed out.
That figures to be a tall order, beating the Lady Altas, who have been among the very best this Season 101. But with Razonable leading the way and the Lady Generals playing with newfound confidence, anything might be possible.
