Alex Eala has yet again achieved greater heights as she now holds her best-ever professional career ranking at No. 53.
At Her Best Despite Struggling
The 20-year-old Eala has accomplished so many milestones this 2025, which now includes going up to the WTA world rankings.
This is despite her recent struggles in the past Asian WTA tournaments she participated in, which saw the Philippine tennis legend reach only the semifinals.
It all started in the WTA 125 Jingshan Open in China. Alex was still #57 last September 23. The Guadalajara Open champion was able to reach the semis but lost after 3-Sets. Her next China tournament was in the WTA 125 Suzhou Open, wherein she only finished the Quarterfinals. Her last China stint was in the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open, but she was immediately beaten in the Round 1 of Qualifiers.
In her last game, the U.S. Open 2025 Round 16 finisher got eliminated in the Round of 32 at the WTA 250 Kinoshita Group Japan Open after being dominated in 2 straight sets.
All Eyes on her Bounce Back Tour
Alex Eala now has 1,131 points in the WTA rankings and is expected to play in the WTA 250 Guangzhou Open in China from October 20 to 26.
Now that she’ll play again in China, many fans are expecting her to put up more of a fight in her next matches, considering how underwhelming she has performed in her Asian tour.
Her opponent is yet to be determined, but no matter who the Filiprima squares up against, her entire Philippine fan base will continuously support her.
