Ant-Man Saying Whatever: Anthony Edwards Goes Unfiltered After NBA All-Star Game Showcase

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards capped off a busy NBA All-Star Weekend with the All-Star Game MVP award. He received the honor after leading Team Stars to an unlikely championship in the Team World vs. Team USA mini-tournament that culminated the showpiece weekend of the world’s preeminent league.

Afterward, the artist known as Ant-Man delivered mic-drop moment after mic-drop moment in practically every interview.

Anthony Edwards Throws Shade at Team World, Luka Doncic, and Nikola Jokic

The newly minted All-Star Game MVP notably got honest about how he felt after his team shocked the much-hyped Team World in the very first game.

“Beating them is the best feeling in the world,” Ant-Man told reporters in the post-All-Star Game presser.

Incidentally, part of the reason the NBA settled on the Team World vs. Team USA format was the emergence of international players and the notion that they’re catching up fast with the Americans. At least on Monday, Team USA’s two representatives showed Team World who’s still the boss.

Perhaps not coincidentally, Edwards also threw shade at Team World’s Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic, whom Edwards said weren’t trying to play in the All-Star Game. Doncic and Jokic each played about five minutes in Team World’s first game—a 37-35 loss to Edwards’ Team Stars—and didn’t see the floor in their loss to Team Stars later in the day.

“No shade towards Luka and Jokic, but like they two of the best players in the league, they not tryna play in the All-Star Game,” Edwards told the NBA TV crew when he joined them after the NBA All-Star Game.

It should be noted, though, that both Doncic and Jokic are coming off injuries, and that may explain their notable lack of playing time on Monday.

Anthony Edwards Stirs the OGs

Edwards didn’t stop there, as he also had something to say to Team Stripes, a.k.a. the old heads, whom Team Stars beat in the final, 47-21.

“Those guys paved the way for us—Bron [LeBron James], Steph [Curry], KD [Kevin Durant], Kawhi [Leonard]. All those guys, and all we trying to do is repay it by giving them belt,” a smiling Edwards told Malika Andrews in an interview immediately after Team Stars clinched the NBA All-Star Game title.

Indeed, it was a belt-to-ass revenge game for Team Stars, who had earlier lost via game-winner to Team Stars in a highly competitive second game. And Edwards just had to remind LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and company about it.

Yep, that’s Anthony Edwards for you, and he’s really saying whatever when he gets the mic.
