Nxled Chameleons team captain Brooke Van Sickle praised her team after they finally snapped their four-game losing streak with a 20-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-19 victory over the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Centre on Thursday, March 12.

After opening the conference with three consecutive wins, the Chameleons dropped four straight matches against the Galeries Tower Highrisers, Akari Chargers, Choco Mucho Flying Titans, and the Creamline Cool Smashers.

“Yeah, I mean, the four straight losses—it wasn’t happy times,” said Van Sickle. “But we were able to stick together, and I’m really proud of all the girls. It’s not just me. As a team, cohesively, we understand what we need to do and what we need to get done.”

Van Sickle Leading the Way as Chameleons Band Together

In the win over the Thunderbelles, Van Sickle led the way with 20 points, while Jonah Sabete added 19 markers. MJ Phillips chipped in 12 points in what proved to be a strong team effort for Nxled.

“And we continue to push each other in the gym and stay together. I think that’s something super important for teams going through losing streaks—to be able to stay together,” Van Sickle added.

“Because when you go through tough times, it’s easy to point fingers or say it’s not going our way and just roll over. But with this team, no matter what, we always come out and say, ‘Okay, new day, let’s go.’

“Let’s keep a positive attitude and keep trying to improve.”

Shared Leadership at Nxled

The losing streak also tested Van Sickle in her role as team captain, but the Fil-Hawaiian spiker emphasized that leadership has been shared throughout the squad.

“So, it makes my job a lot easier. Everyone is leading themselves very well and helping out. It’s not just a couple of people—I think, cohesively, we’re all doing it together,” she said.

The Nxled Chameleons will end their preliminary round against the PLDT High Speed Hitters on Thursday, March 19, 4:00 p.m., at the Filoil Centre in San Juan City.
