Chicago Bulls Secure Josh Giddey With $100M Deal: Why This Underrated Move Could Change Their Future

We are just a few weeks away from the start of the 2025-26 NBA season, and the Chicago Bulls pulled off one of the most underrated moves of the offseason: re-signing Josh Giddey to a four-year, $100 million contract.

Wait, before you click off, hear us out.

Josh Giddey’s Breakout Season and Why Chicago Is Betting on Him

The Bulls secured a massive long-term win by doing this, as he is coming off a career year last season, notching career-high averages of 7.2 assists, 8.1 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 37.8% shooting from deep in 70 appearances.

Obviously, Giddey is nowhere near his best potential yet, as he has had some subpar outings throughout his 2024-25 campaign.

But that’s the thing. The Aussie standout is still just 22 years old.

With the Bulls failing to make the playoffs the past three seasons via the play-in at the hands of the Miami Heat (seriously look it up), Giddey and the Chicago front office have time to work their magic.

That puts the onus on team GM Marc Eversley and VP of Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas to build around Giddey as their lead guard and eventually shore up the frontcourt to help with his weaknesses on defense.

All that Chicago can hope for now is that Giddey grows into his own within the next two years and eventually becomes a key piece of their contending hopes in the last two years of his contract.
