The Cignal Super Spikers secured a spot in the qualifying round after defeating the Capital1 Solar Spikers in straight sets, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20, in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Centre on Saturday, March 14.
From start to finish, the Super Spikers controlled the match to become the second team to clinch a berth in the qualifying round, following the PLDT High Speed Hitters, who also won on Saturday.
Connection Is Strong for Cignal
Cignal showcased its offensive firepower, finishing with 47 attack points compared to just 38 from the Solar Spikers. The Super Spikers also dominated at the net with nine blocks, far more than Capital1’s two.
“Sobrang special ng araw na ‘to. Ngayong Saturday, hindi ko alam kung ano pwedeng mangyari, pero ang maganda, yung preparation namin at yung skill ng mga players,” said Super Spikers head coach Shaq Delos Santos, who also guided the UST Golden Tigresses to a straight-set victory in the UAAP earlier that day.
“Itong Cignal, happy ako sa naging response nila doon sa preparation namin. Naging maganda ‘yung result. Sobra… sobrang okay.”
Vanie Gandler, Erika Santos Among Cignal’s Stars
Vanie Gandler led the Super Spikers with 23 points built on 21 attacks and two blocks, along with eight excellent receptions. Erika Santos added 13 points from 11 attacks and two blocks.
Setter Gel Cayuna orchestrated the offense with 13 excellent sets, while libero Dawn Catindig anchored the defense with 8 excellent digs.
For the Solar Spikers, Bella Belen paced the team with 16 points built on 15 attacks and one service ace, while Sydney Niego finished with 10 points coming from 8 attacks, 1block, and 1 ace.
